Does Josh McDaniels have a crediblity problem?

A short while after The Athletic revealed that McDaniels had mistakenly disclosed their nuptials to journalists at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Plum made a tweet. The outlet also disclosed that Waller was displeased with McDaniels after the Las Vegas Review-Journal released a story with their wedding date, days before their marriage. Waller and Plum had allegedly been in a relationship since last year, but they had not publicly announced their intention to tie the knot.

Darren Waller, trade really?

Although Waller’s trade wasn’t entirely unexpected, his struggles with injuries in the past two seasons had limited his impact on the field. With only 17 games played, Waller managed to record 28 receptions for 388 yards and three touchdowns. However, Waller’s journey to sobriety, following a near-fatal drug overdose in 2017, has been inspirational and has contributed positively to the team’s culture.

The franchise’s star running back, Josh Jacobs, expressed his disappointment with the news of Darren Waller’s trade to the Giants. Jacobs, who currently holds the team’s franchise tag, has been crucial to the team’s success as the NFL’s leading rusher last season. The Raiders’ management should be concerned about the impact on team morale if Jacobs isn’t content with the latest move. After all, excellence deserves recognition, and Jacobs has certainly earned it.

Liar Liar

Prior to the trade, McDaniels said the 30-year-old Waller “will be a big part of what we’re going to do going forward.”

“[Waller] will be a big part of what we’re going to do going forward.”

Josh Mcdaniels

However, the Raiders were shopping Waller for more than a year, according to NFL Network.

It is worth asking if Josh Mcdaniels is the kind of coach players can trust. credibility is key with NFL players. Mcdaniel’s track record shows an issue with being forthright.

Is McDaniels Shady Past Haunting The Raiders?

“I never intended to do that to anybody,” McDaniels said via Vic Tafur of The Athletic. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for (general manager) Chris Ballard, (Colts owner) Mr. (Jim) Irsay and their whole organization. They were great. I think they ended up with the person they should have ended with (Frank Reich) and I ended up where I was supposed to be.”

Josh Mcdaniels

McDaniels came to the realization that the colts job wasn’t right for him and his career .Unfortunately, it took him longer than anticipated to come to this conclusion. Despite this, it remains true that he left the Colts high and dry, reneging on his promise to them.

“There are a lot of things that go into these opportunities and chances to advance,” McDaniels said. “At the end of the day, the best thing for me at that time was to stay. And it took me a little longer than I wish that it had to realize that, but once I realized that that was the right decision, I felt like I had to do that even though it was going to be unpopular.”

I Am Angry! Brandon Marshall Rips McDaniels

Brandon Marshall rips McDaniels

The Raiders’ offseason has been nothing short of confusing .with the team making moves such as the trade of their star tight end Darren Waller to the New York Giants. However, they did manage to redeem themselves and acquired former New England Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers and made other notable transactions. Despite their flashy move of acquiring superstar wideout Davante Adams, the team was a major letdown in 2022, finishing with a dismal 6-11 record. Josh Mcdaniels has to turn this organization’s perception around.

“Why did they trade Waller?… This is a prime example, it’s not about the players, it’s about my plays. Darren Waller just before this year’s last year started, we were saying he was the best tight end and we weren’t talking about Travis Kelce.”

He added:

“We’re talking about Waller. Now he’s gone, Derek Carr’s gone if this dude, listen, if Josh McDaniels don’t turn the team around this year, his a** needs to be fired and banned from the NFL. You can’t even be an offensive coordinator. Wow, what are you doing? This is your second time around you do the same thing.”

Brandon Marshall

Brandon Marshall is not exactly the most relevant source as it pertains to a person’s character. But you are your habits, a man is only as good as his word. Josh Mcdaniels being cutthroat with personnel is something I can live with as long as he’s right in his assessment of the player the issue some might have is Daniels in public saying one thing and doing the opposite. According to the NFL Players Association’s assessment of the Raiders, the team’s coaching staff received the lowest grade. Players expressed dissatisfaction with Head Coach Josh McDaniels, claiming that he disregarded their opinions and kept them working for longer than necessary. Interestingly, the report found that working longer hours did not equate to success, as most of the coaches who efficiently managed their players’ time and made the playoffs had shorter workdays. Despite these concerns, Raiders players generally enjoy playing in Las Vegas, and the team boasts high-quality facilities. In fact, other players have requested that their teams adopt similar facilities.

“Josh McDaniels had sold Derek on how much he believed in him, and the criticism, I think, and it is just one guy’s opinion, made Derek think that Josh was dishonest,” one player said.

Can Mcdaniels Right The Ship?

Josh McDaniel’s fate as coach of the Raiders will be sealed by his players and his ability to get players to buy into his program. He has to realize the patriot way doesn’t work if you aren’t winning. Some players didn’t have a problem with McDaniels’ approach given that he was consistent. McDaniels did the same for every player and coach with one unnamed player sharing he even called out the people that brought the water out on the field. there is a fine line between being a hard-nosed CEO brand of the head coach and being an unethical douchebag. Josh McDaniels would be wise to learn from the lessons of his previous failures in Denver. Current NFL players value transparency consistency, and above all else respect. Hopefully, the view from the outside is an inaccurate depiction of what is going in Las Vegas.
