30-Days, 30 Prospects: DAY 20 – Tulane Linebacker Dorian Williams

Dorian Williams is an excellent sideline-to-sideline player with a unique “shape-shifting-like” frame and speed, having the ability to play virtually any position, barring the defensive line. In 2022, Williams had his breakout season, tallying 132 total tackles, 6 sacks, and 2 interceptions, topping off the season with a school program defining win against Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams and the USC Trojans in the Cotton Bowl, where he earned the game’s defensive MVP award.

Williams, at 6′ 1″ and just under 230-lbs, is shaped more like a defensive back but packs a punch like a linebacker. His 4.49-second 40-yard speed translates on the field, showing excellent sideline-to-sideline speed and sound fundamentals with good angle pursuit. In zone coverage, Williams shows great awareness, a strength that translates well in the league.

Williams must work on his overall strength in order to be more effective at the point of attack. Additionally, as he does contain the prototypical frame of a linebacker, at times, his mentality lacks that of an NFL linebacker, as his skills and technique are unpolished and raw.

Williams is an excellent consideration on Day-3 of the NFL Draft at #109-overall. Williams would be a great addition to Defensive Coordinator Patrick Graham’s defense, with his highlighted versatility, speed, and athleticism at the position. His role on the defense would initially be a depth piece in relief of Linebacker Divine Deablo, with the upside of taking over the starting role. Look for the Raiders to kickoff Day-3 with this move.

This is the Brutewarrior – I put graph and Wasted on this dude. Here’s the deal, LB is a lower value position. I couldn’t stomach drafting Sanders at 38 with a 20% missed tackle rate. At 109 this value is 1000% better than any LB in round 2. Darnell Washington, Torrance, Villa, Will McDonald, Adeboware, or Tyrique Stevenson are better targets than any LB in Rd 2.

I like the analysis and breakdown… I can get with that thought process. I like Adebawore at #38 if available. Go check out my video on him… versatile and very physical!
